It's a challenge for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 championship victory happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have followed from 10 efforts across formats.

The gritty keeper was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She made sure her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the argument supporting final game tension. Some might respond with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in practice sessions, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit activate and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has consistently been her great strength - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

One run resulted off Gaud's first delivery and from there Healy was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it another time but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

Those words will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this World Cup need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has grown stronger - this victory following win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is anticipated as her concluding event as leader in one-day cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as leader.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
