Since the launch of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the premier party of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, desires retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and The cleric, having defied his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the team enter areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The fighter vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the remote area in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
