Ex- Doctor Faces Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former physician stands accused of carrying out assaults against thirty-eight victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
