Fans Urge Custody of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of Ariana Grande are demanding that a individual who jumped a barricade and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good launch be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and lunging at Grande while the performers made its way down a yellow carpet accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the gathering by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was set to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was charged.
Record of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account contains clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last December.
"Steps should be implemented enforced against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user questioned.
Followers Show Disapproval Over Grande's Safety
Numerous supporters accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being adequately prepared; while others called for social media platforms to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was approached by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had assembled in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film interpretation of the acclaimed stage production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising friendship between two very different characters.
The show itself is a adaptation of the classic story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sparkling outfit at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and received a dozen Oscar nominations, winning several for best costume and set decoration.
