The Streaming Giant Casts Ideal Performer for Mr. 2 in the Hit Series Third Season
The Secret Organization is set to exert significant influence in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.
The streaming service revealed recently that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Bon Clay. This character has the ability to change into an exact copy of any person they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. Escola, who is identifies as non-binary and uses they/them pronouns, will play a version of that character reinterpreted as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the original manga and animated series.
The new cast member joins several other recently announced actors who will portray Baroque Works to life, including leader the main antagonist, portrayed by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and an accomplished actor, who also joins the ensemble as the ruler of the fictional land.
Though Bon Clay is a key figure of the group, the individual won’t appear until One Piece season 3. With season 2 expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this signals a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could indicate further changes to the plot development.
The actor’s combination of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a standout choice for the part. Besides their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for writing and starring in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated characters.
