NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text of Sunday's games via various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, audio coverage is available on select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

It's week six of the NFL season and following last week's talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.

Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.

But it proved positive to see how Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before direct three scoring drives on three possessions in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, and Denver prevailed in that battle.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily sending more than four pass rushers but they might position two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year strongly and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up significantly and recent running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks fifth league-wide for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

That shows how the Broncos are a team that wants to prioritize the run, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in positive situations.

It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, however they lack the mobility as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he is highly agile.

His strengths include his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, and finding different arm angles to deliver throws as he moves outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to evade being tackled whenever possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses a high football IQ and is very decisive.

When you constantly rush it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got a mobile QB the defense must defend the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

Nix has pushed back at Payton during games at times and it seems the coach appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to coach a young quarterback who's similar to moldable clay. He can really develop him the way he desires to shape him. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and has surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. In my opinion the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in the AFC West. The key is is maintain this trajectory.

They excel at leaning into their forte, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.

Ever since the NFL began tracking takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers through five games, which is kind of shocking considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after a recent loss by the Jaguars.

After this Sunday's game, the Broncos have a manageable slate until their break (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the division.

It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they face since the Broncos {beat|def
